ABOUT MARIA
Maria Busquets is born in Molins de Rei, Barcelona (Spain) where she started ballet and tap dancing at an early age at Pas a Pas dance school. She also practiced many different dance disciplines like jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, but she focused in tap dance taking classes with Guillem Alonso, Rubén Sánchez, Roser Font, Laia Molins and many others at Luthier Dance School in Barcelona. She is also graduated from professional education in Musical Theater and Acting, and she was part of a music band for kids called Ambauka, as a singer and entertainer for 7 years .
In 2015, she moved to New York for six months pursuing tap dance and jazz music and she studied in different dance schools such as Steps on Broadway or Broadway Dance Center with Barbara Duffy, Derick Grant, Michelle Dorrance, Andrew Nemr, to name a few. Also, she had the opportunity to audition and perform with Savion Glover for his Christmas show Savion Glover Dance Holiday Spectacular in Newport News, Virginia.
Maria has been pursuing her career performing and teaching workshops in different countries around Europe: Sweden, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Germany and Spain. Nowadays she is based in Geneva (Switzerland) where she teaches tap dance regularly in different schools and where she performs with Carpe Rhythmum and with Martin's Tap Dance Company, a dance company based in Lausanne.
In 2024 she joined Sebastian's Weber Dance Company to perform for Folk Fiction's shows and for the new show 100 Passions premiered in June at the Staatsoperette of Dresden.
